How to

  1. Cast on the required number of stitches and work in 2x2 rib for 5cm.
  2. Change to stocking stitch and work until the jumper measures 38cm from the cast on edge, ending with a purl row.
  3. Shape the armholes:
    • Cast off 2 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
    • Decrease 1 stitch at each end of the following 3 rows.
    • Continue in stocking stitch until the armhole measures 20cm, ending with a purl row.
  4. Shape the neckline:
    • Work across 42 (48, 54, 60, 66, 72) stitches, place these stitches on a holder, join a second ball of yarn and work across the remaining stitches.
    • Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning of the next row (the side near the neck) on the second set of stitches.
    • Continue decreasing 1 stitch at the neck edge on every following alternate row, until 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50) stitches remain.
    • Work until the armhole measures 24cm, ending with a purl row.
    • Cast off.
  5. Work the other side of the jumper to match the first side, reversing the shapings as necessary.
  6. Sew the shoulder seams together.
  7. Pick up and knit stitches around the armhole edges, and work in 2x2 rib for 3cm.
  8. Sew the side and underarm seams together.
