Description
This particular pattern is for a floor-length gown with a fitted bodice and full, flowy skirt. The dress features a v-neckline, gathered waist, and cap sleeves. You can choose to make the dress in a solid color or a print, depending on your personal style.
Materials
To make this dress, you'll need the following materials:
- 4 yards of fabric (satin or chiffon work well)
- 1 yard of lining fabric
- Coordinating thread
- A zipper (20" to 22" in length)
- A button or hook and eye closure for the back
- Interfacing (optional)
Pattern Sizes
This dress pattern comes in sizes XS to XL. Refer to the size chart included with the pattern to determine which size to make.
How to
1. Print out the pattern pieces and tape them together. Cut out the fabric pieces, lining pieces, and interfacing (if using).
2. Sew the bodice pieces together at the shoulder seams and side seams. If you're using interfacing, attach it to the wrong side of the bodice pieces first.
3. Sew the sleeves to the bodice, matching up the notches. Fold the edges of the sleeves under and hem them.
4. Sew the front and back skirt pieces together at the side seams. Gather the top edge of the skirt and attach it to the bottom edge of the bodice, right sides together. Sew in place.
5. Sew the lining pieces together in the same way as the dress pieces, but leave a 6" to 8" opening in one of the side seams. This will be used to turn the dress right side out later.
6. With right sides together, sew the dress and lining pieces together at the neckline and armholes. Turn the dress right side out through the opening in the lining.
7. Insert the zipper into the back seam of the dress, following the instructions included with the pattern. Finish the back of the dress with a button or hook and eye closure.
